Ganja worth around Rs 45 lakh seized

Ganja worth around Rs 45 lakh in the international market was seized by Delhi Police from a truck carrying plastic granules near Sarita Vihar on Thursday.

The police received information that one Jahoor Khan (35), the truck driver, was smuggling ganja, reportedly loaded in the truck from Odisha, for distribution to peddlers in the capital city, waiting for his associate to deliver the drug near a fuel station at Sarita Vihar.

On reaching the spot, the police team found Jahoor sitting in the truck waiting to deliver the said quantity of drug. On conducting a search it was found that the truck was loaded with 800 packets of plastic granules and in between the packets one big plastic bag containing contrabands was found hidden.

The bag was opened and 12 well wrapped packets were found. Each packet was containing ganja approximately of 6 kgs. Subsequently, a case under the appropriate sections of the law was registered at Sarita Vihar police station and investigation was taken up. On interrogation, Jahoor revealed that he used to take up consignments of delivering ganja to earn some extra buck. He was produced before a court and remanded to two days police custody. According to sources, the police are investigating further and are trying to nab the major kingpin who is behind the racket.
