Gangs of Bhowpur-Ghazipur battle it out on the border

Rift between the two groups, belonging to the Gujjar community, has resulted in cross firing more than two dozen times in the last couple of years. In recent days, both groups have become violent to kill each other.
Last week an attempt on the life of Praveen Singh, a bouncer associated with the EDM mall and a resident of Bhowapur village, was made by the gang from Ghazipur village. Bhowapur falls in UP and Ghazipur in Delhi with a road in between them. The family of Praveen alleged that Bobby, from Ghazipur village, was behind this. Bobby, they said, enjoyed the backing of one Dharamveer Sethi, landlord of the same village. Bobby and his associates were attacked sometime back by Manoj, a friend of Praveen, and others.
Praveen suffered grievous bullet injuries but managed to survive. In retaliation the Bhowapur gang is now looking for members of Dharamveer Sethi gang. The matter is in the knowledge of the police of both the states, which have so far failed to effectively intervene in the matter. ‘Earlier it was a property dispute between the groups but later they correlated it with their status as well as power.
Now, the situation is that there is no communication at all between the people of the two villages while earlier they were living like one family,’ said Devender Singh, a resident of Ghazipur.
