Ganga water supply to Noida will resume on 13 November

Residents of Noida and people living in Trans-Hindon areas of Ghaziabad will start getting the supply of Ganga water from 13 November after the canal gates would be reopened. The gates were closed in October for annual maintenance work.

The canal gates will open on 10 November in Haridwar and it will take three days for water to reach the Pratap Vihar treatment plant in Ghaziabad.

Generally, water supply is resumed to UP-NCR every year a day before Diwali. However, this year there has been a delay because of the excessive amounts of silt deposited in the canals after the flood in Uttarakhand in June.

Due to the delay, the residents have been facing a tough time as they can’t use the 48 MLD of Ganga water.  The most affected areas are Noida, Indirapuram, Vaishali and Kaushambi.
