Gang busted for duping people with fake insurance papers

A gang of three tricksters duping people with fake vehicle insurance renewal papers was busted, police said on Monday.

“The mastermind of the gang, Mukund Yadav (22), ran a call centre at Rani Bagh where telecallers contacted potential customers and field boys collected insurance money and delivered forged papers,” said Vijay Singh, DCP of New Delhi district police.

Mukund had collected client data through data vendors. The female <g data-gr-id="23">telecallers</g> of his call centre used to call persons whose vehicle insurance were going to expire and the field boys would collect money and delivered fake insurance receipts to the clients, Singh said.

Police came to know about the gang when a senior manager of an insurance company reported that two boys were caught by them who had gone to deliver company’s slip issued in the name of a customer.

The duo identified as Salman Ansari and <g data-gr-id="21">Ilshad</g> <g data-gr-id="20">Ahmad,</g> confessed their act during <g data-gr-id="19">investigation</g> and led the police to Mukund Yadav.

A case was registered under various sections of IPC and Copy Right Act at BK Road police station.

A computer with printer, forged vehicle insurance premium receipts, Rs 8000 and client data were recovered when police raided the call centre at Rani Bagh, he said.
