Epic fantasy Game of Thrones and Mad Men star Jon Hamm finally broke their jinx at the 2015 Emmys by bagging big awards, while Viola Davis created history by becoming the first African-American to win the best actress trophy.
Since its first season in 2011, the HBO show has been in the outstanding drama race at the Emmys but failed to taste success until now. Thrones also scored the best supporting actor trophy for Peter Dinklage.
“The only thing that separates women of colour from anyone else is simply <g data-gr-id="12">opportunity</g>. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there,” Davis, 50, said to a resounding applause.
