After lying low for about four months since his resignation as the president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),former BJP president Nitin Gadkari, is now slowly working his way to ‘re-emerge’ in the national politics. Gadkari has initiated the lunch/dinner diplomacy with the top leadership of the party in order to mend the fences with them.
Sources say that the former BJP president met senior party leader L K Advani, at his residence over lunch which lasted for about three hours. Party leaders in know of the meeting informed that during the lunch meeting, Gadkari was given the responsibility of expanding the National Democratic Alliance(NDA).
Even during the party's national executive held in March this year, Advani had stressed upon the need to work towards NDA plus scenario for the 2014 general elections. It is also learnt that Gadkari, is also likely to be appointed as the in-charge of poll bound state of Rajasthan.
Apart from having lunch with Advani, in recent times the former BJP president has also had lunch and dinner meetings with BJP president Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of Opposition Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley. His meetings are being viewed as Gadkari’s effort to fix the bridges that he had burnt during his tenure as the party president.
The growing stature of Gadkari can also be understood from the prominence that he is receiving within the party, the former BJP president will be attending a rally along with BJP leader Varun Gandhi in Sultanpur on May 16. Gadkari will be the second leader after the BJP president Rajnath Singh, to attend the rally with Varun Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh.
