Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari is likely to head the campaign committee for the election bound states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and New Delhi. It is learnt that Gadkari’s name for the position has been proposed by veteran party leader Lal Krishna Advani, who during Gadkari’s tenure as the party president did not have a cordial relation with him.
Though support for Gadkari has come from the most unlikely quarters, BJP president Rajnath Singh has not been in favour of entrusting with the task of managing the campaign of poll-bound states.
