Gadkari heading for second term

The decks seems to have been cleared for BJP president Nitin Gadkari to stay for a second term. Senior RSS leaders met top BJP leadership on Monday. ‘In all likelihood, Gadkari will remain the chief as RSS leaders have been able to convince the dissenting voices in the party’ said a senior party leader.
RSS general secretary Bhaiyaji Joshi on Sunday met senior leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, where the latter expressed his reservations for extending the tenure of Gadkari. However, at the end, RSS persuaded both the leaders in favour of Gadkari.
The election of new BJP president could take place at the end of January or early next month, after at least 50% of the 35 state units complete their internal polls according to the party constitution.
