FYUP admission rush eases on Day 6

The massive rush to grab a seat in Delhi University’s Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) slowed down a bit as the process entered its sixth day on Monday.
Deputy dean of students welfare Gurpreet Singh Tuteja said, ‘The sixth day saw a dip in numbers. By Monday evening 14,519 forms had been sold across various DU colleges. Among the students who bought the forms, 11,490 were from general and OBC categories, while 3,029 physically challenged and SC/ST category students bought the forms.’

Meanwhile, around 16,440 forms were deposited across 18 centres. The highest number of forms were deposited at the Faculty of Arts, where a total of 3,494 forms were submitted.

Senior students along with DU alumni were spotted on South campus helping students in filling the common admission forms and also clearing doubts facing young aspirants.

Some of the students said that they found the online application format better and would apply through it. They said they were visiting the campus only to familiarise themselves with the campus. Tuteja informed that a lot of aspirants were applying through online application medium. According to DU sources, around 97,164 students have registered online so far.

Among them 54,311 successfully applied on Monday alone. Interestingly, physically-challenged students were seen showing tremendous enthusiasm in this year’s admission process. Keeping in mind their special needs, the University administration has promised all help to the differently-abled students.

‘We have more than 10 volunteers, among them eight are on the help desk aiding students in filling application forms and making them aware about
the admission process,’ Tuteja said.
