On Diwali, a neighbour’s stray bullet, shot to celebrate the occasion, cost the life of a teenaged boy in Kavi Nagar area of Ghaziabad. He succumbed to the bullet injuries on Thursday, said the police.
The incident happened at around 9.20 pm on Diwali night when Rahul, 17, was injured by a stray bullet fired by his neighbours Vikky, 22, and Rinku, 24.
He was rushed to the nearby Sarvodaya hospital and admitted for treatment. But Rahul succcumbed to injuries on Thursday. Both the accused are asbconding.
‘The parents of the boy has registered a police complaint claiming murder. But parents and relatives of the accused termed it as accident,’ said Sudhir Tyagi, inspector of Kavi Nagar police station.
‘There is no motive for murder and neither did any fight occur before firing. On the face of it, it seems like a case of celebrative firing went wrong. We are searching the neighbourhoods for the two accused,’ added Tyagi.
