‘Frustrated’ unmarried man shoots mother to death in Gokulpuri

In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man shot his mother dead during the wee hours of Tuesday in northeast Delhi’s Gokulpuri area. The accused has been arrested.  

He told police that he was frustrated as his marriage was not being finalised by his family. On the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, when all the family members were sleeping Kuldeep, the elder son of the victim went to his mother Kamlesh’s (64) room and allegedly shot her.

Kamlesh lived with her husband and four children, including a daughter at a rented accommodation in in Gokulpuri.

At around 3.45 am, the family members rushed to Kamlesh’s room on hearing the firing shot. ‘They found Kuldeep running with a pistol in his hand. He was immediately nabbed by his younger brothers,’ a police official said quoting a family member’s statement.

She was immediately rushed to the nearby GTB hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. She received two gun shot injuries on her chest and abdomen, the doctors informed.

During interrogation, Kuldeep told police that he was frustrated as her mother had refused many marriage proposals. Kamlesh, reportedly wanted her daughter to get married first. It was also learnt that Kuldeep was unemployed and was a drug addict.
