From Noida to Vikaspuri signal-free

The Delhi government is planning to make travel from the eastern suburb of Noida to Vikaspuri in the west, a distance of about 42 kilometres, signal free. As part of this ambitious plan, the public works department (PWD) of the government will construct six flyovers between Meera Bagh and Wazirabad in the first phase of the project.

Giving out this information, Delhi PWD minister Rajkumar Chouhan said, ‘The flyovers/elevated roads would come up on Outer Ring road at Vikaspuri, Meera Bagh, Deepali Chowk, Badli and Mukarba Chowk covering a distance of 23 kilometres. Further, three other flyovers will be built between Mubarka Chowk to Wazirabad covering nine kilometres. This would be built at the cost of Rs 3000 crore.’

Talking to Millennium Post at the laying of foundation stone for building the extension of Barapullah elevated road from Nehru Stadium to INA Market on Saturday, the minister said: ‘A substantial part of the work on the 43-kilometre stretch between Noida and Vikaspuri has been done with the building of Salimgarh bypass and also building elevated corridor along the pushta of river Yamuna from Geeta Colony to Noida.’

The PWD plans to integrate the Vikaspuri-Mukarba Chowk corridor with NH-1, thereafter with Salimgarh bypass and then on to the elevated pushta corridor ending in Noida. ‘The government is also readying the report to build the extension road of Barapullah corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar in trans-Yamuna,’ said Chouhan.
