Free wi-fi: Officials begin work

Even before AAP took over the reins of Delhi, chief secretary D M Spolia has started acting on poll promises made by the nascent party and directed authorities to immediately prepare a foolproof plan to provide free wi-fi across the city and to construct 20 new colleges. Spolia has asked Information Technology department to immediately prepare a foolproof action plan on wi-fi.

Sources said that Spolia has also directed Public Works Department (PWD) to come up with a strong plan to build 20 new colleges and two lakh public toilets across the national Capital.

“Officials of Delhi government’s IT Department have been directed to immediately prepare a foolproof action plan to provide free wi-fi across the city as it was a main poll agenda of AAP,” said a senior government official.

The official also said that I-T department’s officials have been given three to four days to complete the task. “Once new ministers are sworn in, the department’s officials have to give presentations on free wi-fi issue before Arvind Kejriwal,” sources also said.
