Freak accident at amusement park

Seven students and three teachers received critical injuries after they fell from a ‘Mickey Mouse Bouncy’ in an amusement park in Kalindi Kunj area. A ‘Bouncy’, is an air-filled structure, upon which little children jump. Improper management was seen as the cause behind the accident by the visitors.  However, the staff blamed their visitors for showing carelessness.

On Monday morning, at around 9 am, 324 students of Victor Public School in east Delhi’s Shahdara came for a picnic in the amusement park called ‘Delhi Rides’. 21 teachers had accompanied the students as their guides. At 11.30 am few students went for the ‘Mickey Mouse Bouncy’.

Due to the unavailability of amusement park employees, three female teachers joined the students on the ‘Mickey Mouse Bouncy’.  The air-filled structure has a capacity to accommodate five persons. It can carry weight up to 60kgs per person. But during the incident, ten persons were jumping on the air-filled structure. This resulted in a structure running beyond maximum capacity, which lead to the accident.  Sources in Delhi police said, ‘Three students out of seven were critically injured and the remaining four have been discharged. They have been shifted to Max Hospital in Saket. One student had broken his teeth, whereas the other suffered a fracture on his jaw.’
