Photography is perhaps the only art form that captures the present the seals it forever in history. And not as a reflection, but as the perfect first copy. Art, as art is. And to capture the essence and soul of a place, a way of life and a form, a group of professional photographers have gotten together in the Capital to present a group photography exhibition, aptly labelled Timeless.
Photographers Sanjay Das, Idris Ahmed, Mathew Kurien, Shabir Hussain Santosh and Partha Sarathi Sengupta — professional aquaintainces and friends, put their heads and hearts together to create this body of work that transcends all barriers to create an unique exbition of art and photographs.
While Das specialises on Bengal, Santosh works on Kashmir. Kurien is one artist who merges his photgraphs with digital art to create some eye-catching graphics and Ahmed is a travel photgrapher. Coming together, their exhibition is a manifestation of each of their talents, in a collective it creates a show that should not be missed. Das explains that it was a conscious decision to segregate and display the works because the main idea was to create a flow that allowed people to interpret it their own way. Das has been working on Bengal for almost four years now and is working towards a compilation he calls ‘Beautiful Bengal’ . A tie up with the Bengal government, Das says that it took him a lot of time and effort to get the kind of support he has now, and there’s no looking back. For an artist who drives off when the need arises to click the right moods, his art is an extension of his self.
The exhibition is next headed to Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata and travel plans might be extended, says Das. Timeless has garnered a very encouraging reaction on the Delhi chapter and the photographers are hopeful of similar positivity elsewhere. Das also points out that the five waited for the longest time to get two galleries free for their show since they were not willing to compromise on the display space for their work. All in good time as they say and Timeless has left us quite impressed.
Head over and enjoy the ebb and flow of different visions coming together to create magic.
