‘Frame charges against Bansal, Singla’

A CBI court has ordered framing of charges against former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla, suspended Railway Board member Mahesh Kumar and others in the railway bribery scam based on prima facie evidence. Special CBI judge Swarana Kanta has ordered fixing 11 March for framing of charges under various corruption and conspiracy cases against the 10 accused involved in the alleged Rs10 crore cash-for-post railway bribery case.

CBI has chargesheeted the 10 accused over allegations of an underhand deal to arrange one of the top positions in the Railway Board for Mahesh Kumar, who was then a staff member in the board. CBI had named Bansal and 90 others as prosecution witnesses during the time of filing the chargesheet.
