Four members of human trafficking gang arrested

Police claimed to have busted a human trafficking gang withthe arrest of four persons, including two women on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Afzal Ali, Rabib-ul-Islam, arrested from Baxihat in West Bengal after a search operation, while the girls — Anju and Kiran were arrested from the national capital.

Police said their suspicions were initially raised after a woman committed suicide in a guest house in Ballimaran in Delhi and it was discovered that she had checked in with a male companion, who was using a false name.

‘The investigation revealed that the deceased girl and the person who had checked in the hotel had traveled from New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal to New Delhi along with two more persons,’ said a senior police officer. The officer said that they also found out that the deceased was being offered for sale to one Heema working at GB Road, adding that Heema’s interrogation led to the arrest of Kiran, a resident of Noida which subsequently led to the other arrests. ‘

A 17 year old from Jharkhand was also rescued from Anju’s house after her arrest. Efforts are on to nab the remaining gang members,’ police said.
