Four detained, BJP workers to hold Noida bandh today

Local police detained four people on Sunday in connection with the murder of the BJP leader Vijay Pandit, who was shot dead by four unidentified persons in Dadri area on Saturday night. The killing had led to eruption of violence in the locality. The city SSP has been transferred on Sunday following the public outrage over the killing of BJP leader on Saturday late night.
Meanwhile, several BJP workers on Sunday held protests DM camp office in Noida and Greater Noida demanding arrest of the killers and called for ‘Noida bandh’ on Monday.

‘BJP leaders have decided that on Monday they will assemble at the temple in Sector at 10.30 am and proceed to implement the ‘Noida bandh’ by closing shops and blocking traffic. It will continue till the arrest of the killers,’ said spokesperson of the Gautam Buddha Nagar unit of BJP Vinod Sharma.

The Pandit family has demanded a high-level CBI inquiry in the case. Pandit’s wife Geeta alleged that her husband was killed due to election rivalry at the behest of local SP leader Narinder Bhati. ‘During Lok Sabha election, a criminal had called and threatened that they will kill my husband and me if we campaign for BJP candidate Mahesh Sharma. ‘Later, SP candidate Narinder Bhati too had called and threatened. As we campaigned for Sharma, they took revenge and killed my husband,’ Geeta alleged.

However, Bhati has denied the allegations, calling them lies. ‘Why will I do such a thing? These are all lies,’ he said. Pandit was shot dead by four assailants on Saturday night following which his supporters torched 16 vehicles near Dadri police station and pelted stones at a police team. Police had to resort to firing in the air to control the mob. The clashes between the two sides continued till late Saturday night. Section 144 has been clamped in Gautam Budh Nagar.
