Four Delhi contract killers held for killing three in Andhra Pradesh

Seven persons, including four contract killers were arrested by Delhi Police’s crime branch and Vijayawada Police on Tuesday. The persons are accused of killing three members of a family at National Highway-16 in Andra Pradesh on 24 September.
The killers were hired by the rival family for Rs one crore. The incident took place on 24 September when Gandham Nageswararao (70), Gandham Marayya (40) and Gandham Pagidi Marayya (30), all residents of West Godawari district of Andhra Pradesh were shot dead on NH 16, while they were proceeding from Vijaywada city to Eluru in their car.
The killers intercepted their car and opened fire at the three persons. The driver of the car, however managed to escape unhurt. Later it was learnt that the it was a contract killing and the killers were hired from Delhi.
One family consisted of Butham Govindu, Butham Srinivasarao and Butham Durgarao, while the other family consisted of Gandham Nageswararao, Gandham Marayya and Gandham Pagidi Marayya.
‘On 6 April Butham Durgarao was shot dead in West Godawari through contract killers from Mumbai.
Two of the deceased Gandham Marayya and Gandham Pagidi Marayya were arrested in this murder and subsequently released on bail. The triple murder was a result of this personal enmity,’
Ravindra Yadav, Joint commisioner of police (Crime Branch) said.
In several raids, seven persons were apprehended from various parts of Delhi and all were found to have criminal background. They further revealed that Sirigirichina Sriniwas hired them.
‘Butham Govindu is currently abroad. The contract for successful execution of the killings was for about one crore. The contract killers have disclosed that they were paid Rs 8-10 lacs each for the killings,’ Yadav further added.
