Four suspected bootleggers have been arrested from Siyani Gate area in Ghaziabad and 140 cartons of liquor bottles have been seized from them, police said on Saturday.
The accused — identified as Manoj Kasna, Rajendra Kumar, Surrendra Kumar and Harrendra, all residents of Ghaziabad — used to smuggle liquor from neighbouring Haryana, where the price is less than Uttar Pradesh, police claimed. Police also seized a car and a scooty from the accused.
Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested the accused from the Siyani Gate area today (Saturday) morning.
‘We are interrogating them about their accomplices,’ said a police officer, adding that a case had been registered against them.
