Four arrested with drugs worth Rs 68 L at Delhi airport

At the IGI Airport on Wednesday, at 3.45 am, CISF intelligence staff in plain clothes, were observing the movements of some passengers which appeared suspicious in the check-in area of Terminal 1D of the airport.

‘These passengers were carrying their luggage in two bags. While passing through X-Ray images that appeared on the monitor indicated some Narcotic substance kept in the bags,’ said an airport official.

‘When the bags were physically checked by the CISF, tablets weighing 85 kg were found. The tablets were tested with narcotic substance test kit, which confirmed the tablets to be pseudo-ephedrine’,  said Harpreet Kaur, CISF Assistant Inspector General.

On enquiry, the passengers revealed their names as Lalparmawia, 30, 3rd Assam Regiment of Indian Army from Shillong (Meghalaya), David Lalnuntluanga, 23, Vin Ramdingngheta, 27, and Ramdim, 22, from Mizoram.

‘They came to 1D terminal to travel to Kolkata by Go Airways. They further informed that they reside at Janakpuri, in New Delhi and three of them works in a callcentre’, said a CISF official.

‘On questioning, they informed that they had to hand over the drugs at Aizwal via Kolkata. The value of the recovered drugs is Rs 68 lakh in Indian market and Rs. 4.08 crore in international market,’ said Udayan Banerjee, DIG, CISF.

Narcotics Control Bureau officials who were informed about the recovery of the drugs, confirmed that the recovered tablets were pseudo-ephedrine. The apprehended passengers along with recovered drugs, were handed over to NCB officials by the CISF for further action.
