Days after a senior manager of an MNC was abducted, robbed and beaten up in South Delhi, the police have arrested four persons, police said on Monday. All the accused were involved in criminal cases including, robbery and attempt to murder.
According to senior police officials, on Sunday, all four accused, identified as Vipin (28), Pradeep (35), Sonu (35) and Ankit (23) were arrested from Mathura. The car used in the crime has also been recovered along with Border Security Force (BSF) uniforms, fake BSF ID cards and a fake walkie talkie (pre-recorded message).
The incident took place on May 11 when Sumit Chakraborty (55), a resident of South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area was waiting for a bus at Andrews Ganj bus stop. Meanwhile, two well-dressed youth claiming to be BSF Officers approached him to ask the way to ISBT. A few minutes later, another man approached him from behind to ask which way he should drive to reach Sector-62 in Noida, whose car was parked in the service lane. While Chakraborty was giving directions to this man, the two others who had approached him earlier asked that man to drop them at Maharani Bagh to which that man readily agreed to.
When they reached DND flyover, one of the men punched him while the other tied a piece of cloth around his eyes. They then removed Sumit’s rings, grabbed his mobile and asked him to hand over his wallet along with the ATM card. After obtaining the password of the ATM card, one of them withdrew Rs 40,000 and dumped him on the Yamuna Expressway.
