Four arrested for betting during IPL matches

Delhi Police today claimed to have smashed a cricket betting racket operating during an IPL match with the arrest of four persons, who had allegedly collected bets of around Rs 82 lakh.
Jai Prakash (44), Sandeep Saxena (42), Manish Sharma (27) and Narender Kumar (49) were apprehended from Shastri Nagar yesterday for betting during the IPL match between Pune Warriors India and Deccan Chargers, police said.
"A TV, 19 mobile phones, a laptop and 12 calculators among other articles were seized. The match summary report of total betting till the time of the raid was found between Rs 80-82 lakh," I B Rani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said.
"To avoid and confuse the police, they had taken a room on rent. Arrangements were made so that no one in the locality could smell the presence of the racket.
"One mobile phone was being used for receiving the rates.
Apart from this other mobile phones were being used for accepting bets," she said.
