Former Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, on Thursday accused Delhi Police of not attending a molestation case on the Vasant Kunj road, despite the presence of a PCR van on the spot in the previous week.
Dr V Mohini Giri, a social activist, scholar and the former chairperson of the National Commission for Women, said that around 6 pm on Saturday, she saw a group of boys allegedly molesting a girl near the Qutub Institutional Area. In the mean time, she also saw a number of PCR vans nearby and rushed to the cops to ask for help.
‘But the police officials in the PCR van refused to help her and one of them asked her to go to the police station instead,’ said Dr Giri. She further alleged, ‘When she insisted to register an FIR, the police officials refused to do so.’
‘There were around a hundred people on the road but none of them came to help the molestation victim,’ said Dr Giri.
She further said, a number of PCR vans throng this market place in the Institution area, which has a number of food joints, and it was shocking to see their indifference, despite a crime like that happening in their presence.
However the police have ruled out all the allegations and said that nothing like that had happened,
said Rajan Bhagat, PRO of Delhi Police.
