Forging deep cultural bonds

India has a rich cultural heritage and the varied dance forms that we get to see here serve as a reflection of its diverse cultural traditions. When it comes to classical dancing, the country has a variety of options to present.

In an attempt to promote classical music and dance, Kalptaru Arts organises Manthan, a two day festival of arts. The festival will bring the eminent personalities of classical genre on one stage. It will be hosted in Delhi at Stein auditorium, India Habitat Center, Lodhi Road on July 27 and 28.

Sangita Chatterjee, founder of Kalpataru and an eminent kathak dancer said, “Kalpataru strongly believes that culture is an integral part of a society and it has the power to positively transform the society and can contribute to its holistic growth. With this belief, the organisation is primarily engaged in preserving and propagating Indian cultural heritage along with giving exposure to International art forms in the form of cultural exchange programs.” The festival will be honoured by Birju Maharaj and Debu Chaudhary as Chief Guests.

First day of the festival will showcase a unique duet, Dilruba by Sandeep Singh and Hindustani classical vocal by Mahua Mukherjee, disciple of Ajay Chakraborty and a Kathak duet by Krishan Mohan Misra and Vaswati Misra will also be showcased. The festival will conclude with Kathak performance by Sangita Chatterjee and Mohan Veena by Grammy Award Winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. It will be accompanied by tabla players -Ram Kumar Misra, Govind Chakravarty, Ashish Sengupta and Kali Nath Misra

A part of the fund raised through this concert will go to a West Bengal based NGO ‘Eternal Mission’, who are working for the upbringing of children.
