For the love of comics

Pomp and grandeur marked the finale of the Delhi Comic Con held from December 4 to 6 at the NSIC grounds of the capital. The festival that celebrates the love for comics and superheroes saw a spectacular line-up of events including special international guest appearances, exclusive experiential and gaming zones, artist alley, fans sessions, cosplay, book launches and much more!

The con, in its 5th edition, hosted 250 exhibitors besides national and international names from the world of comics. Thousands of cosplay enthusiasts descended upon the festival dressed up as comic book characters while pseudos posed a selfie with their favourite movie characters and anime icons. Internationally acclaimed actor Kristian Nairn of the TV series ‘Game of Thrones’ fame was the main guest at the three-day-long festival. Nairn, who plays the character of Hodor in the fantasy series, also works as a disc jockey. Other guests included author and artist Rob Denbleyker who has created the much loved web comic Cyanide & Happiness and Canadian book artiste and writer TY Templeton who has drawn several mainstream and TV-associated titles like the popular Batman and Spiderman series.

Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India, shared, “Thank you Delhi for kick starting the 5th year of Comic Con India in such an awesome way! Delhi is home to all of us and it was overwhelming to see thousands of fans line up over the three days to celebrate the best weekend of the year. We’ll be back in 2016 as always bigger and better.”

If this was not enough, Comic Con India set up Exclusive Experiential and Gaming Zones at the event. The Experience Zone had awesome art installations and gaming for fans. This year, Delhi Comic Con also featured a special Star Wars Zone.

Star Wars enthusiasts were in for a treat as the much talked about Star Wars: Battle Pod made an appearance at the event to provide fans with a high-speed arcade game experience set in the Star Wars galaxy. Nodwin Gaming Zone at the event, streamed the show live to the audiences at home. The gaming zone had a slew of interesting gaming activities. On all three days, AXN India conducted some super awesome sessions in the AXN India Zone with amazing gifts and prizes for fans.

Amar Chitra Katha, the pioneers in India for comic books and illustrated works of literature, had kept amazing surprises for their fans. ACK brought its mega quiz to Delhi Comic Con for their young fans, with loads of awesome prizes and surprises in store.

An ‘Artist Alley & Indian Comics Village’ exclusively featuring artists from all over India was set up at DCC 2015. Here fans got an opportunity to interact with awesome artists, illustrators, designers working for comics and related fields. The alley and the show overall featured artists like Vivek Goel, Akshay Dhar, Aniruddho Chakraborty, Faisal Mohd, Nikhil Das Gupta, Abhijeet Kini, Saumin Suresh Patel, Reshmi Chandrashekhar, Raviraj Naik, Parth Kothekar,  Marcus Santiago, Rohit Soni, Leena swamy and many more. Comic Con India continues to give its fans a platform to celebrate their undying love and passion for comics and pop culture.
