This month, Seher and India International Centre are presenting an Odissi duet by Kalyani and Vaidehi Phagre. Students and nieces of Bindu Juneja have shared the stage with her in Narmada Parikrama and other performances. Bindu has mentored them since their childhood. Kalyani, the elder of the two, has now started giving solo performances and is actively involved in Sanskrit theatre.
Juneja is a renowned Odissi dancer from India who was drawn towards the fluidity and lyrical mysticism of Odissi. She owes her love for dance to her parents who had a keen awareness for arts and hence encouraged her to take it up as a life pursuit.Â
Her initiation into the world of dance was through Bharatanatyam at the Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow. She was, later, drawn to Odissi and learnt from the leading exponent of the form Madhavi Mudgal.Â
You wouldn’t want to miss the sharp frozen expressions! So head over...
