People for Animals is joining hands with a host of sponsors across the country to present an evening of music by a band that made history as the first band in India to play rock and pop music in Hindi.
Euphoria was put together by Palash Sen in 1988 and has gone on to become one of best loved music groups in India. The song ‘Maaeri’ was the first that went to the top of the charts and there have been many since.
Euphoria’s well known albums are Dhoom, Phir Dhoom, Mantra, Gully, Mehfuz, ReDhoom, Item, Sharnaagal. And their famous songs are: Dhoom Pichak Dhoom, Maaeri, Phir Dhoom, Ab Naa Jaa, Aana Meri Gully, Mehfuz, C U Later, Prabhuji, and many more.
Shilpa Rao is a playback singer from Bollywood. She has studied under the Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. She has also performed with Shankar Mahadevan. In 2006 she recorded the song ‘Tosey Naina Lagey’ for the movie Anwar and ‘Saiyaan Re’ for the film Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love. She went on to perform songs in films like One Two Three, Aamir (‘Ek Lau’), Dev D (‘Dhol Yaara Dhol’, ‘Ranjhana’), Gulal (‘Aisi Saaza’). She has recently appeared on the popular TV series ‘The Dewarists’.
An article published in the Hindustan Times in 2009 described her as one of the most prominent singers then sweeping through Bollywood. She is also a part of band, Band Called Nine. In 2012, Shilpa Rao worked with academy award winner AR Rahman for the song Ishq Shava in Yash Chopra's last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Euphoria, Rao and sponsors like Pass Pass, ONGC, Airtel etc are helping People for Animals raising funds for animal welfare. People for Animals is the India’s largest organisation working for the welfare of animals. With 36 Hospitals-cum-Shelter and over 200 Units all over India PFA aims for more. PFA’s goal is to make shelter-cum-hospital in each district.
