Under the United Nations Environment Programme, World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year to raise global awareness to take positive environment action to protect nature and the planet. The day also marks the 60th anniversary of Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, KVIC, Cannaught Palace.
Celebrating the <g data-gr-id="27">ocassion</g>, Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, KVIC, has organised an exhibition showcasing green stationery items of handmade paper. The show that commenced on June 5 was inaugurated by Rajesh Malik, Special Police Commissioner, Delhi Police. Bipin Bihari <g data-gr-id="29">MD,Delhi</g> KVI Board, K S Rao Dy CEO, KVIC/Manager, Zonal officials of Banks, Retired officials of KVIC and representatives of HMPI Units also graced the <g data-gr-id="28">ocassion</g> with their presence.
Rao explained how hand-made paper is the traditional way of producing paper by using cotton rags and agro-waste and is totally <g data-gr-id="25">wood free</g> and eco-friendly. Use of hand-made paper helps save trees and forests and thus conserves eco wealth.
When you buy 1000 file covers of handmade paper you save 40 bamboo shoots. Green Stationery includes carry bags, writing pads, <g data-gr-id="20">note book</g>, gift envelopes, photo frames, gift packs and lot more.
He further added that the exhibition is very useful for children to acquaint themselves on the use of hand-made paper which has a very positive impact on the environment. The objective of the exhibition is to give an opportunity to manufacturers to get a captive market for green <g data-gr-id="26">stationary</g>.
The exhibition will remain open till June 10.
