Five-year-old raped, dumped in Badarpur public toilet

Crimes against women, specially minor victims, continue unabated, with yet another rape reported in the capital on Friday. A five-year-old girl was discovered in a public toilet under mysterious circumstances after being raped in south-east Delhi.

According to a police official, at approximately 4 pm, a call was made to the police control room informing that a girl child had been found in a public toilet in  the Badarpur area of south-east Delhi. When a police team reached the spot, they found a girl lying unconscious on the toilet floor, in a pool of blood.

'The girl was rushed to the nearby All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) where she is still undergoing  treatment. The cops who visited the crime scene noticed injury marks on her neck as well. Blood stains were discovered on her body. Prima facie  evidence indicates that the minor was raped, after which the culprit, who is yet to be identified, tried to kill her,’ said a police official. After undergoing immediate necessary treatment at AIIMS, a medical examination was conducted to confirm the possibility that she has been raped.

'In the late evening, the reports confirmed rape,' the official said. After the doctors permitted the cops to take the girl’s statement, she could only inform the police about her residential address. The girl was unable to give further details about the incident, but on the basis of the information given by her, her family was traced.

The victim is a resident of slum clusters near the Badarpur area. Her family told police that at around 3.30 pm, she was playing outside her hut, when someone lured her into going with him. The family hunted, but failed to trace her. In the evening they were informed about the incident.

'A case under appropriate sections including section -376(rape) of the India Penal Code have been registered against the unidentified rapist.
