Five-year-old boy crushed between two vehicles, dies

A five-and-a-half-year-old boy was crushed to death when he got stuck between two vehicles while he was playing in open space near a parking lot in North-east Delhi’s Sunder Nagri M block, a residential colony on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Uzefa.

“Our child was playing with other children in the open plot of MCD land at around 4.30 pm when he got stuck in between two vehicles. The incident happened because of the nexus of mafia and police which operate in the colony where cars are parked at free will. We got to know about the incident much later,” said a grieving relative.

“We then rushed the child to GTB Hospital. His bones were broken and the doctors declared him dead on admission. The body has been kept in the mortuary and post-mortem will be conducted on Friday,” he added.

“There are 4-5 such plots which are used by the mafia for parking and despite repeated complaints, the police take no action,” the relative further said.

Uzefa’s father is a small-time truck driver while his mother is a housewife.

According to the police, they got a PCR call only around 6.30 pm that a child has been injured while he was playing in the parking lot. While a car was already parked there, an auto driver while parking, hit the child due to which he got stuck in between the two vehicles. Preliminary investigation suggests that it was an illegal parking lot used on MCD land.

“The auto driver’s vehicle had no number plate and after hitting the child, he fled from the spot. We are trying to identify him. We will make arrests soon,” A K Singla, DCP (North-east).

A case has been registered at Nand Nagri police station against the auto driver under relevant sections of the IPC. Further Investigation is underway.
