Five nabbed in ex-MLA’s murder; police call it an act of vengeance

Days after the murder of former MLA Bharat Singh, Delhi Police have managed to nab the mastermind along with four others, including a former assistant sub-inspector with Punjab Police. The murder was the outcome of an ongoing personal enmity arising out of a family feud.

According to sources, the murder was a result of old killings, feud over land worth Rs 8 crore, revenge against insult and political conspiracy. “A contract of Rs 3 crore was given to eliminate Singh, bother of Kishen Pehalwan,” sources claimed. On Saturday, the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested three persons including the mastermind—Udaiveer (40), Prashan Sunil (25) and Pehalwan Sube (23) from Alipur. On sustained interrogation, they revealed the whereabouts of their fourth associate, upon which Mohit, 21, was arrested from Bawana. Later, Raman Gurang, a former assistant sub-inspector with Punjab Police was also arrested. Millennium Post was the first to reveal that Udaiveer is the prime suspect behind the attack.

The enmity began in the year 2002, when Kishen Pehalwan eliminated Udaiveer’s father Surajmal, his brother Sukhbir Singh and his uncle Naryan Singh at Palda Village in Sonepat, where they had gone to attend a marriage function. Again in the year 2009, Udaiveer had purchased a three-acre land from three persons, who were allotted land from the government. Bharat Singh knew that the land cannot be sold or purchased and he provoked one of the three and got a case registered against Udaiveer. Subsequently, he also sought support from Udaiveer for his MLA election in 2009. But Udaiveer refused to support him and supported opposite party during the election.

In 2012, Udaiveer met Vicky and Kuldeep, both residents of Najafgarh. Vicky and Kuldeep also bore enmity against Bharat Singh; he had misbehaved with their paternal aunt. He along with Vicky, Kuldeep, Satish, Virender, Naveen, Ravinder, Rajender and Padam Dagar planned the attack on Bharat Singh and executed the same in March 2012. However, Singh survived the attack. Meanwhile, Hemant , nephew of Udaiveer, whose father Sukhbir Singh had also been murdered by the associates of Kishen Pehalwan, wanted revenge for the murder of his father against Bharat Singh and Kishen Pehalwan. Hemant arranged for the weapons, post receiving information that on March 29, 2015, Bharat Singh will be arriving at a function at Abhinandan Vatika. Accordingly, the conspiracy was hatched.

Cops have recovered three sophisticated weapons, including a Carbine and 20 live cartridges. Police said that more suspects have been identified but are yet to be nabbed.
