Days after Millennium Post published a story titled Six new players, five more IPL teams on Delhi police radar, on Thursday, the names of five more players have been added to the list of suspects.
A highly-placed source in Special Cell of Delhi police said, 'During ongoing investigation to collect concrete evidence against players who had earlier been placed on the police radar, the names of five new players have been added to the list of suspects,’ said a source in Delhi police.
But the source, in the interest of the investigation, has only revealed the names of the IPL teams to which these players belong and not the names of the players.'So far no concrete evidence has been gathered against them but the investigation to know their role is under process,' the source said.
According to the source, three of the five cricketers whose names have just been added to the list of suspects, are from Sunrisers Hyderabad and two are from Royal Challengers Bangalore. The six others against whom investigation had started a few days back, are from the Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals teams.
'Several raids are being conducted in various parts of the country. Footages of more than two dozen hotels have been gathered and teams are going through each one of them. Call details of the bookies are being scanned and the suspicious telephone numbers are being investigated,' the source added.
Meanwhile, Delhi police on Thursday said it had seized Rs.5.5 lakh, the money allegedly given to Rajasthan Royals cricketer S Sreesanth for spot-fixing in IPL, from an event manager, Abhishek Shukla. Shukla, a friend of Sreesanth who allegedly cleaned up the cricketer’s hotel room soon after his arrest, was taken to Mumbai on Wednesday from where the money was recovered.
Shukla was granted bail by a court on Thursday.
