Fitness and tourism go hand in hand

In today’s busy life it is important to keep mind and body healthy and what better than running can be, which helps in accomplishing this. 

In an initiative to promote fitness and tourism, Delhi Tourism in association with India Tourism, Delhi and the Ministry of External Affairs, government of India is set to welcome the one of its kind ultra-marathon ‘The Spirit of India Run’ by Pat Farmer, an ultra-marathon runner from Australia on March 13. 

The event will be heald at Badarpur-Delhi Border where Pat will be welcomed and facilitated by Kapil Mishra, Minister for Tourism, government of Delhi and Keshav Chandra, Secretary (Tourism) along with students from DIHM and Amity University. He would be running upto India Gate and President House. A media gathering will be organised at Dilli Haat, INA at 7 pm where Pat Farmer will address the Media and share his experience. This will be followed by High Tea.

Pat Farmer is a multiple world record holder for endurance running and has run from the North Pole to the South Pole, and across Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, the Middle East and North America, who has raised millions of dollars for worthy causes during his 20 year running career and in this process he has earned a huge fan following across the globe who follow him on social media wherever he runs.

This run has also provided a huge opportunity to various tourism destinations across the run route to showcase themselves. This run is expected to showcase important tourism attractions of Delhi in Australia, thus projecting Delhi as a tourist destination which will help in increasing the tourist flow from Australia and other countries.
