First unit of Raghunathpur TPP commissioned

The first unit of 600 Megawatt (MW) of Phase I of Raghunathpur Thermal Power Project of Damodar Valley Corporation was synchronised with the grid on Monday. The Raghunathpur Thermal Power Project is situated at Raghunathpur in Purulia district of West Bengal. The project is being implemented in two phases. The Phase - I is consisting of two units of 600 MW each and being executed at a cost of Rs.6745 crores. The second unit is slated for commissioning in the next fiscal. In Phase II, there will be two units of 660 MW each with Super Critical Boilers and those will be implemented at an approved cost of Rs.9089 crores. At present, the corporation operates six thermal stations in West Bengal and Jharkhand, besides three hydel stations.
