First ever! 6 candidates cross 1 lakh threshold

The party candidates have not just routed their rivals but its six candidates have secured more than one lakh votes first time ever in the history of Delhi assembly polls. The highest margin victory of 77,665 votes has been recorded from Vikaspuri while lowest margin win of 1,555 votes from Najafgarh. The party candidate from Vikaspuri assembly constituency, Mahinder Yadav, has defeated BJP’s Sanjay Singh by a margin of 77,665 votes. Yadav has secured 1,32,437 votes while the runner-up candidate has got just 54,772 votes.
Former MLA and candidate from Burari, Sanjeev Jha, has registered a victory by a margin of 68,168. Jha, a prominent Poorvanchali face of the party, has defeated another Poorvanchali, Gopal Jha of the BJP. Another party candidate from Okhla, Amanatullah, won the seat won by a margin of 64,538 votes by securing 1,04,271.
Sandeep Kumar, AAP candidate from Sultanpur Majra, defeated his nearest BJP rival, Prabhudayal, by 64,449 votes. Party candidate from Mundaka, Sukhveer Singh, defeated BJP heavyweight and younger brother of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, Azad Singh, by a record margin of 50,826 votes.
As far as the lowest vote- win is concerned, AAP’s Najafgarh candidate Kailash Gehlot snatched the seat by defeating INLD candidate Bharat Singh by a margin of 1,555 votes.
Kailash, who was trailing till half the counting was over, secured 55,598 votes while the nearest rival got 54,043. Advocate SK Bagga of the AAP emerged winner against BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi with a narrow margin. Bagga got 2,400 more votes than Bedi.
AAP’s Laxmi Nagar candidate, Nitin Tyagi also registered win with a margin of 4,846 votes by defeating sitting Chairman of Standing Committee of East MCD. Notably, the highest win margin in previous assembly election was around 40,000 votes while the lowest was 326 votes. A total of 10 candidates were declared winners by less than 2,000 votes last time.
