First 6-coach train on Rithala metro to be inducted today

To facilitate passengers visiting the ongoing India International Trade Fair, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will be inducting its first six-coach train on Dilshad Garden to Rithala (Line 1) on Sunday.

It will be the first of a total of 10 six-coach trains to be introduced on Line-1 in a phased manner. ‘The induction of this six-coach train has been preponed for Sunday for facilitating passengers visiting the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan,’ said Anuj Dayal, executive director (Corporate Communications) DMRC.

These trains will carry approximately 600 commuters more than the four-coach trains and boost the carrying capacity of the Line 1 from the present average rideship of around 3.5 lakh.

Earlier, DMRC introduced six coach trains on Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre (Line 2) and Dwarka Sec-21 to NOIDA City Centre/Vaishali (Line-3/4). DMRC has planned to convert 10 of its trains on Line-1 into six coach trains out of a total of 29. Thus, Line-1 will have 19 trains of four coaches each and ten trains of six coaches in next few months.
