Fire engulfs godown, injures 10 children

On Tuesday evening, a chemical factory godown in a basement of a house was engulfed in fire in east Delhi, injuring 10 children, who were playing outside the house. Of the 10 children, six were severely injured. The fire broke out at 6 pm at House Non 58, near Shashi hospital in east Delhi’s Shakarpur area. Around five fire tenders reached the spot soon after receiving the call and fire was doused within half an hour. Due to narrow lanes in Shakarpur area, the fire tenders found it difficult to reach the engulfed residence. They were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where four of them were discharged. ‘The cause of the fire is yet to be identified. No causalities have been reported whereas damage to  the property was significant,’ a police official in fire department said.
