Fire breaks out in shoe factory

According to the fire department officials, they got a call at around 4.20 pm that a fire has broken out in the C-block of Mangolpuri Industrial area. As many as 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. An adjoining factory also caught fire due to which additional five fire tenders were rushed to the place.
The fire department official added that the operation took more than five hours as the fire was big. However, no major casualties were reported in the incident.
“We also informed the local police who reached reached the spot” added the fire department official.
A senior police official said: “We reached the spot and started evacuating people from the surrounding. There were no people in both the factories as everyone was evacuated. Only one person suffered minor injury and was taken to Sanjay Gandhi hospital for treatment.”
Later at 7.30 pm, fire officials said they had brought the fire under control but the building was damaged considerably.
“We surrounded the factories from all sides and brought the fire under control,” said an official.
Although he fire was major, luckily there were no casualties, said a police official.
“The fire department acted swiftly and everyone was evacuated and hence there was no casualty,” said a police official.
Police said they could not yet ascertain the reason of fire and is investigating the matter from all angles.
“We could not ascertain the exact reason yet but the fire may have been triggered due to a short circuit” said the police official.
