Fire breaks out in Lady Hardinge Hospital, Rajghat

Two separate incidents of fire were reported in Central Delhi on Thursday. A minor fire broke out in the medicine room on the first floor of Lady Hardinge Hospital and a major one broke out in a forested area behind Rajghat. No casualties or injuries were reported in either incident.
According to fire department officials, the first fire broke out around 12:20 pm.
A senior fire personnel said the cause of fire was suspected to be short-circuiting in an air-conditioner.
Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused within an hour a followed by cooling operation. The air conditioner and some medicines were damaged in the blaze.
The second major incident happened around 10.40 am, sources in the fire department said. Ten fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the fire and the operation lasted a few hours. The police said:
“The fire could have been caused by the hot and dry weather conditions. However, the exact cause will be established only after an assessment following the cooling operation.”
