Fire breaks out in bank in Ansal Plaza Tower

A minor fire broke out in a bank located in Asia’s largest computer spare parts market, Nehru Place market in South-east Delhi on Monday morning. No casualty has been reported so far.
According to the fire department officials, a call was received around 11.40 am that a fire had broken out in the Nehru Place branch of the Canara Bank in Ansal Plaza Tower. Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. It took an hour to completely douse the flames.
“The fire had broken in the server room and record room of the bank. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, the possibility of a short circuit cannot be ruled out,” said a fire department official.
Meanwhile, a minor fire broke out in the third floor of the FIIT-JEE coaching institute in Janakpuri area on Monday afternoon. No casualty has been reported in this incident.
According to the fire department official, they got a call around 3.34 pm that a fire has broken out in the coaching centre. Eleven fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. It took one hour to douse the flames and another half hour to carry out the cooling operations.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that short circuit is the cause of the fire. However, we are investigating the matter,” said a police official.
