Fire at transport godown in S Delhi

As many as 30 fire engines were rushed to the spot which brought the fire under control. However, no casualties have been reported and officials are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire.
The fire department received a call at around 3.30 pm and after learning the intensity more than 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. After four hours of operation, the fire officials took control and doused the blaze. “At around 8 pm, the fire was brought under control,” the official confirmed.
According to a source, the firemen did not reach the spot on time and in turn the fire department claimed that they were stuck in heavy traffic which caused the delay. In the initial probe, the circumstantial evidences suggests ‘short circuit’ to be the cause of the fire. However, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
The police officials said, “Inflammable material like linen added to the blaze.”
The fire begun in the basement of the building and later spread to the ground and the first floors of the godown that is built in 400 square feet area. At the time of the incident, only few employees were working in the godown who were evacuated from the fire exits. “No casualties have been reported,” the official confirmed.
