Fire at 13-storeyed commercial building in Rajinder Nagar

A mysterious fire broke out at a 13-storeyed commercial building in Central Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar area on the intervening night between Monday and Tuesday. No casualties or major injuries were reported in the incident, said a police official on Tuesday.

According to fire officials, they had received a call about a massive fire at the Pragati Towers building in Rajinder Nagar around 1.25 am and sent a few fire tenders to attend the call. Later, it took the fire department as many as 25 tenders and more than two hours to douse the flames. The cooling operations lasted till Tuesday morning.

This was reportedly the third fire incident at the same building in the past six months. The Pragati Towers accommodates as many as 150 offices, including some big shot names. The latest fire incident reportedly originated from the office of VIP <g data-gr-id="29">luggages</g> in the third floor and soon spread upward till the ninth floor. Two offices — VIP Suitcases and Nanda Property — were completely gutted in the fire. It was a security guard who saw smoke billowing from a ventilator and raised an alarm. Within a few minutes, the few workers who were guarding the offices at night, evacuated the building. Later, a CFSL team visited the spot to investigate the cause of the fire.

In a separate incident, <g data-gr-id="24">fire</g> broke out at the 11th floor of the Delhi Police Headquarters on Tuesday morning. Three fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames. No casualties or injuries were reported.
