A Bhopal-bound Jet Airways plane, with 70 passengers on board, averted a major tragedy on Thursday morning when a fire alarm caused scare moments before the flight was about to take off.
According to the airline officials, Flight - 9W2654 from Delhi to Bhopal had a precautionary rejected take-off at Delhi due to engine fire warning. ‘The ATR aircraft has since been grounded at Delhi for inspection by the Jet Airways engineering staff. All the passengers were deplaned safely and taken back to the terminal building without any event,’ the airline said in a statement.
Jet Airways have initiated an internal inquiry into the matter. The airline is also cooperating with DGCA (Director General of Civic Aviation) to provide all necessary assistance for the inquiry. ‘The aircraft has been changed and the passengers duly departed for their destination’, the official statement said.
