Four days after the order was issued by a local Delhi court to take immediate action for not registering the complaint of a rape victim, a Zero- FIR was registered on late Sunday night, at the RK Puram police station. Further the case was transferred to the concerned police station in Gurgaon. No arrests have been made in 24 hours since the registration of the FIR. Millennium Post on 4 January first filed a report on this case, titled, ‘Married women should report rape cases: Shocker from city police’.
The 35-year-old married victim claimed that she had approached RK Puram police station a month ago but police officials did not allow her to meet the SHO of the station. She alleged that police officials told her not to register a case, or else it would affect her marriage, since the accused are big names. She also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and the Home Ministry but failed to get any response.
A well-placed source in court told Millennium Post, ‘From the past week the statements of all 11 alleged accused were taken by the senior official of the police station and on Sunday late night, a team went to the victim’s residence in Ghaziabad to take her statement. She is residing with her husband and a child, where she was questioned for around five hours.’
On the basis of her statement, a case of rape, criminal breach of trust and criminal intimidation has been registered and on early Monday morning the case was transferred to Shushant Lok police station in Gurgaon. Nazneen Bhasin, deputy commissioner of police (east), Gurgaon said, ‘We are investigating the case. So far the medical examination of the victim has not been conducted.’
