The railway authorities are all set for the second and perhaps the final trial run of the semi-high speed train to be run from New Delhi to Agra on 11 September. Senior railway officials said the service will start in November. The train is expected to cover the distance between New Delhi to Agra in 90 minutes.
‘There were 16 speed restriction areas and curves on the Delhi-Agra route which were upgraded to improve the speed of the train in the past three months. Railways have spent a huge amount to make the track ready for the semi-high speed train,’ said Bhupindar Dhillon, PRO, Agra zone railways. She added that the timings of the trial on Thursday will be similar to the previous one.
‘The first trial was done basically to know the time being spent at each station and to find a way to cut short the stoppages. This time, the movement of other trains will be allowed during the upcoming trial. In the first trial, only-one way traffic was allowed,’ added Dhillon.
