West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s appeal to film-makers from India and abroad to invest in the film industry in the state seems to be timely with the state Government moving fast on setting up of three film cities here.
‘Land acquisition for the three film cities–to be set up at Dankuni, Bardhaman and Radha studios in Kolkata is on the fast track,’ Suvaprasanna told Millennium Post on Sunday. Some members of the Mumbai film industry–who were in the city for the big ticket inauguration of the Kolkata film festival on Saturday evening– have evinced interest in investing in the film industry, said Suvaprasanna. Among the three projects, the one at Dankuni will be the first to come up
‘Our Bengal industry is also improving a lot and our government is interested to set up three film cities in Bengal itself. We want to give a boost to the film industry in the state,’ Banerjee said at the inaugural ceremony attended by stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
The entertainment industry will figure in the new era in West Bengal, Banerjee added on Saturday.
