Fight over eve-teasing kills one, injures two

A fight between two groups over a girl led to the death of a man and left four injured in Dadri area of Greater Noida on Thursday.
Following the incident, members of both the groups came on road and engaged in stone pelting and arson. Residents, meanwhile, blamed police for inaction and worsening the situation.
According to locals, on Tuesday evening, a boy, identified as Gagan, passed a lewd comment on a girl of another community. Reportedly, he had been teasing her for two days, despite the fact that Moolchand Sharma, father of the girl, had been asking him and his friends to refrain from doing so.
On Wednesday, around 4 pm, Gagan again passed some comment, to which Moolchand reacted, and a fight broke out.
Relatives of the girl then went to the police station to lodge an FIR but it was not registered. In the night, Gagan came with around a dozen supporters at the girl’s residence and started fighting with her relatives.
They then opened fire and one Ravinder Sharma, 20, the girl’s maternal uncle, and brothers Deepak and Bunty received bullet injuries.
They were rushed to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida, where Ravinder was declared brought dead on arrival. The other two are critical.
As the news spread, members of the two communities came on road in large numbers and started pelting stones at each other. The fight turned really ugly and the mob even attacked policemen and jammed the national highway. Police and state provincial armed cops (PAC) have been deployed to control the situation.
‘We are investigating the matter and will take stern action against those responsible,’ said Ravinder Kumar, Deputy SP of Dadri.
Three persons, Ashok, Arun and Gagan have been arrested.
