Surrealist Humanity – an art presentation showcasing three promising and accomplished artists namely Anitta Sethi, Deepali Roongta and Shashi Tripathi. Although they are having different life experiences, commonly they all are fascinated by human forms and use the same to express their artistic statements in their individual techniques.
Anitta, being charmed by renaissance period and inspired by the surrealist works of Salvador Dali has been deeply mesmerized by human anatomy. Art comes naturally and spontaneously for her. She is deeply fascinated by anatomical details and loves to use human forms merging with each other to represent her ideas in her own way. She is also in love with solid architectural forms and perspective views. Her preferred working medium is oil on canvas combined with roll-on texture. She does not like to convey any specific message through her paintings. She believes in self expression which naturally reflects artist's thought process according to the time.
However, human body is greatly fascinating to Shashi as well and she conveys human emotions using the body parts in meaningful compositions. Her creative insight easily connects with nature and human psychology; human body is greatly fascinating to her and that shows in her works. The elements of her paintings are carefully chosen and placed in defined and decisive manner. Her colours are strongly primary though she experimented with rare shades sometimes. Shashi Tripathi, on the other hand likes to express her experiences of life, which comes from meeting people, encountering varied moods and also through relationships. Her works are basically figurative and contemporary in her own approach.
Deepali, who embraced art since her childhood, believes in communicating through art as she interprets various aspects of human life in expressive way. Her compositions mostly are amalgamation of natural and social realities; she also combines realistic and abstract forms to put across her ideas. Some of her paintings convey the genuine struggle about being human beyond doubt, which is her true observation as an artist that she wanted to express sincerely. Her paintings reflect her ingenuous approach to make a statement and her works are distinctive comprising contrast colour selection and assemblage of diverse forms. So as a whole 'Surrealist Humanity' is an exposition of humane ideas and compassionate presentation for the viewers. This exhibition introduces excellent paintings from the trio of women artists joining the contemporary crusade of Indian art world. The passion and dedication of these three women adds richness to the works way ahead of the time they have experienced art.
The paintings are well composed and mature in colour distribution, which make unique impact on quality of work. Anitta's choice of earthy colours to suggest trueness rather than illusion, Shashi's strong primary colours combined with rare shades and Deepali's love for nature reflecting through natural forms and bright candid colour scheme make them outstanding among others. Anitta, Deepali and Shashi continue their creative journey exploring the wider possibilities in their own style and ascertain to make a mark in Indian art scenario.
