Promoting communal harmony through music festival
To promote social harmony and secular values, Sahitya Kala Parishad along with Delhi Government is organising 'Kabir Utsav 2019' in the Capital city. The two-day long festival of folk and traditional music will start on February 16, 2019, and will continue till February 17, at Central Park, Rajiv Chowk. It will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia.
The idea behind the festival is, in this era of conflicts and disassociation of human from human, it is important to create a space for people to engage with Sant Kabir's values, to learn the teachings he taught and implement them in life. Just like he showed a universal path which could be followed by the practitioners of all religions, this festival will focus on uniting people from different communities, religion, and class through vibrant musical performances. Therefore, there was a need to conduct this program at a mega level for a lasting effect on people.
Artists from different genres of music like Classical, Folk, Sufi, Fusion, bands and others will be seen entertaining the audience. On day one, Tanushri Roy, Prehlad Singh Tipanya, Geeta Chauhan, along with Mayur Chauhan, Mukhtiyar Ali, Nadeem Shah, and other eminent folk singers, who are well known for singing the poetry of Kabir will be seen performing whereas on Day 2, artist including Prashant and Nishant Mallick, Mooralal Marwadi, and Kabir Cafe will come together to mesmerise the Delhi audience.
